Conn French Horn Serial Number Lookup
Dec 21, 2008 · How do I find the serial number on a Conn French Horn? ? We are trying to sell our french horn and can't find the serial number. I need to know ASAP. We've searched everywhere... Update: We looked in all those places and still nothing. and we have found it before, so I don't know why we are having such a hard time.... Answer Save.

It is labeled on the bell as 'C.G. Conn 8D U.S.A' and the serial number is located on the 1st rotary valve. The serial # is 631446 and I can't really tell but I think there may be a space after the first number, possibly reading then as 6 31446. I have been trying to sell this horn for so long now,...
Note: From 1987 to present, add 50 to the serial number prefix to calculate the year of manufacture. *1980 - 1986 serial numbers are for student trumpet and cornets only. Other cup mouthpiece serial numbers are not available at this time.

For Auction: Used French Horn made by C.G. Conn Ltd. Serial Number N-47284(number engraved under valve#2) This is a single horn. Please see the photos to confirm that there is only one set of tubing. The"N" indicates that the horn was made in 1970. The French Horn comes with a hard case. The case is in very good condition.

Subject: CONN Serial Numbers. For those of you who did not get an earlier (June 1994) message, I have copied a list of CONN serial numbers and approximate dates of manufacture. To my knowledge, for 1940 vintage CONN horns you will find the serial number on the thumb valve casing, not under the valve levers as on more recent horns from CONN.

Stencil serial numbers starting with a P APPEAR to be +50,000 off on the Conn serial number chart for split bell key horns (i.e. a s/n P2xxx horn. 50,000+2000=52,000. According to a Conn s/n chart, 52,000 was made in 1919) and appears to be at least 200,000 off for LH bell key horns.

Conn French Horn Serial Numbers
A Conn 8D with a six digit serial number and no letter prefix is not necessarily an Elkhart 8D. When Conn moved to Abilene, Texas they did make horns with six digit serial numbers that drastically overlap the Elkhart numbers.
